The perfect Christmas table with John Lewis

In just one week’s time we’ll be sitting down with the whole family at our 12-seater repurposed dining table and tucking into a delicious turkey with all the trimmings. So it feels very appropriate that in the third of my Christmas posts with the Home Design Team from my local John Lewis store in Cambridge I’m sharing this beautifully decorated Christmas table that’s just perfect for a festive feast!

Sandra McCall worked her magic yet again using the ‘Enchantment’ theme which adds a touch of sophistication and glamour that I just love. It would look amazing alongside our stunning Christmas tree and fireplace.

Our Christmas table is a feast for the eyes!

Here’s how she did it…

Incidentally, did you know that most John Lewis branches have a Home Design Service? You can book an appointment with one of their Home Design advisors to help you bring out the very best in your home whether you need some key ideas for one room, or a whole new interior scheme. What I love is that your advisor will work across the store’s departments to pull together a look that can include not only furniture and furnishings but crockery, bedding, accessories and more! (More details here.)

How to create the perfect Christmas Table - TheEssexBarn.com

Here are Sandra’s top tips to help you create a similar look in your home:

☆ Make a simple statement with crisp white, linen, runners elongate the table

☆ Have an focal point that has height, balance and is full of impact

☆ Play with the reflective qualities of your baubles adding fairy lights and candles

☆ Think symmetrically when you dress your table

☆ Understated but coordinated table treats for your guest, old and young.

Our table was packed with so many lovely things it’s hard to pick just a few as my favourites but I particularly like this selection of sparkly goodies:

My favourites from our Christmas table

Top row l-r: enchantment glitter drop £4.50 / Hurricane lamp £75 / Moroccan ball christmas lights £15 / Christmas tree candle £10

Middle row l-r: Glass bead placemat £22 for set of 2 / Arthur Price cutlery / Silver stags head candle £12 / Charbonnel et Walker Dark Marc de Champagne Truffles £11 / Dishes from the Boutique Hotel range / Gold champagne flute £6 each / pear place holders £8 for 4

Bottom row l-r: Silver bowl from a range of decorative accessories / Champagne bucket £35 / clock ornament £6

Once again I have to say a huge thank you to Sandra and the Home Design Team from John Lewis Cambridge for such a fun and festive three days filming our stunning Christmas looks.
