12 ideas for an under stairs makeover

In the newest part of The Barn there is a staircase leading up to the childrens’ rooms. It’s perfectly and completely white and has a lovely airy feel but I’d like to get more out it. From adding storage to creating a secret play den there’s so many options for making the most of the space. Here’s some ideas I’ve been using for inspiration while I daydream about my plans for this part of the house…

Storage space

In my opinion you can never have too much storage space and using ‘dead’ space for clearing clutter is a win win. I love the classic simplicity of the drawers in the first image below which would be perfect for bed linens and towels.

Home office/reading nook

When our Little Man came along my home office became his nursery and while working in the kitchen meant I was closer to the coffee pot (!) I craved my own work space. Using the space under the stairs as a home office would have been the perfect solution. Now that I have my own little room to work in at The Barn (although it’s desperately in need of a makeover) I like the idea of a reading nook to hide away in with a good book!

Children’s secret den

Although we have a large playroom at the Barn I know the kids would be so excited about a secret hideaway that’s just their size – these four are full of fun and imagination.

What a great post! I spend a few moments on reading, and I’m
so excited by the advice I received. It’s truly tough to find
something precious on this particular topic. However, this writer seems
to be a genuine professional since there is a special fashion in his writings.

I’m likely to sign up for his new books, just not to skip anything.
    This post worths its reading.

It’s always such a joy to read posts created by real professionals.

I am fed up with that no-name, ghostwritten articles.
That is why it was so wonderful to take a look at a compelling
piece. I visit the writer has ground knowledge it the topic in addition to some practical experience.

Such sort of information is more valuable than copypasted
    blog articles thoughts.

I have noticed you don’t monetize your blog, don’t waste your traffic, you can earn additional

LOVE that sofa and books idea! Looks stunning and so cosy 🙂 I am never a fan of sitting under the stairs to work but if you’re short on space then it is a great idea. Thanks for linking up – much appreciated. Jess x

It’s fab isn’t it? I love it to and it’s definitely a toss-up between that and the extra storage… *wonders* x

I’d go with the sofa under the stairs but I’d probably build it for the dog 🙂
